MT-10 Medical Screening of the Spine for Client Referral
MT 10 Medical Screening of the Spine for Client Referral
This course begins with general referral guidelines applicable to any patient complaint. A brief review of normal physiology will be provided as a basis to understanding non-musculoskeletal hypothesis formation and the impact of pathology on rehabilitation planning.
The course is then organized by area of presenting symptom, for example low back pain. We will explore pathology from the viewpoint of how it contributes to common patient complaints of discomfort/ pain. For each local area of discomfort, a systems screen will be discussed and tools provided to assist the therapist with implementation in the clinic. These tools include the ScreenAssist Questionnaires developed in collaboration with internal medicine physicians.
